Over the past few days I've been diving more and more into the multiplayer aspect of the LittleBigPlanet beta.
After playing some of the multiplayer, I've come to believe that this is the reason Media Molecule chose to release a beta, because the quality of the experience varies greatly depending on the time of day, day of the week, and how many people are playing. For example, when playing midday on a Thursday, things ran flawlessly, and I got little to no lag playing with 3 other people from various locations, but come Saturday night, the servers were so jammed that levels wouldn't load, the level creator took upwards of five minutes to place a single object, and the game quite frankly became unplayable. Now, I'm sure these are all just server issues and can be cleared up in a pretty timely manner, Media Molecule seems like they're going to be good with that kind of stuff, and after all, this is just beta, and isn't stress testing it what it's all about?
Other than the above issues, I have to say multiplayer, both local and online, is an incredibly fun and enjoyable experience. I can't wait to get my hands on the finished product when the game hits shelves in a couple of weeks.
