Thanks to the lovely folks over at Gamespot I've recently become one of those granted admission to the Beta version of Media Molecules upcoming PS3 exclusive, LittleBigPlanet. Let me preface this by saying that I am fully aware that this is just a beta and not a finished product. Well, now that that's out of the way, onward we go, into LittleBigPlanet!
The first thing that stands out is the game's incredibly original and ridiculously charming aesthetic. Everything from the premade level designs and music to the undeniably adorable sackboys and sackgirls are expertly crafted and even though they seem to be made of nothing more than burlap, wood and cardboard, they all emit a great sense of atmosphere and emotion.
As you all know, LittleBigPlanet places a very large emphasis on the creation aspect of the game, as as is to be expected there are many, many tutorials. That being said, the tutorials never last so long to feel like a chore and have very witty, well written and performed narration through them as you are instructed how to utilize your new tool set.
That's all I can really say for now, but from what I've experienced so far in the beta, I'm very satisfied, impressed, and charmed by LittleBigPlanet. I have yet to try out the online modes, but I will be doing so within the next few days, so expect to see more on that soon.
